How It Began

A message from owner and founder, Anthony Joseph:

“I love spreading the knowledge and importance of financial literacy and coaching you toward financial freedom. Money is universal, and I believe financial education should be shared with everyone.

Good Steward Financial Coaching began when I realized I was never truly taught how to manage money. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and earned my bachelor’s degree in accounting and been in the industry for nearly 20+ years. You’d think I knew everything about money and finances, right? I’m an accountant! Just work, save, and pay bills — simple.

Well, that was far from the truth. When I moved into my first condo at age 26, I managed my finances in my head and slowly found myself paying bills late and living paycheck to paycheck, even though I made decent money. That’s when I learned how poor money management habits can hold people back for generations or, when handled wisely, open doors to financial stability and growth.

Fast forward to when I met my wife, through financial classes at church and applying budgeting principles from my accounting career, we built a money system that actually worked for our home. I also began learning about investing and became a student of the stock market. For the first time, I saw money not just as something to spend or save, but as a powerful tool to build and grow wealth.

Throughout my journey, I kept hearing friends and family say they were broke or drowning in credit card debt. I thought, What is going on? That’s when it hit me — we’re taught how to spend money, not how to manage it well. We chase the idea of making more to spend more, instead of learning how to give, save, and build financial security.

I often asked myself, Why don’t they teach us the importance of financial literacy in school? But then I realized — I don’t have to wait for “they.”

Financial freedom isn’t reserved for a select few. It’s available to anyone willing to learn and apply the right tools. My mission is to spread financial literacy to everyone — one person at a time, one dollar at a time.

I’m excited to help you on your financial journey. Let’s go!
